Yesterday, we won the “Best Entertainment Game” award in the college category at Mass DiGI’s annual Game Challenge event in Cambridge, MA with our game pitch of Wobbles.
Wobbles is a 2D side-scrolling puzzle game where you must assist your Wobbles to advancing their civilization through the ages. Players must place platforms and gadgets such as bridges, springs, and soft beds to navigate their Wobbles around obstacles in their way. As players complete levels, they will build new monuments for the Wobbles’ civilization, and advance them to new eras in time, ultimately building their civilization. Each new era will focus on a unique gameplay mechanic such as different sizes of Wobbles, slick ice, quick sand and even gravity manipulation. Being heavily inspired by classic games that everyone remembers and loves, such as Lemmings, Wobbles takes the core gameplay and reworks it with a brand new game mechanic. The reception for Wobbles at the Mass DiGI Game Challenge was immense. After being announced as a finalist, and especially after winning the award, many mentors, judges other developers and attendees expressed their love for the game. Many have let us know that they “want this game now” and “can’t wait to see Wobbles on the App Store.” This response was one thing none of us expected for our small little idea we came up with just a few weeks ago. We now can’t wait to bring everyone the game. Wobbles will be available later this summer on both Android and iOS, with a web beta available before launch. Please keep in mind, that everything we have shown, such as gameplay screenshots, is going to change. All of our art (besides our adorable Wobbles) is placeholder.
